Mastercard Airport Lounge Access in India 2016

By | April 10, 2016

These days when i signup for a new credit card, i always prefer Mastercard over Visa for one reason – complimentary domestic airport lounge access. Most Mastercard Debit/Credit cards issued by various banks are eligible to avail 2 Complimentary visits/quarter across Mastercard affiliated lounges in India. Needless to say, Mastercard has the biggest network of lounges in India compared to Visa.

Why Complimentary lounge Access?

Ever wondered how Mastercard is able to survive the Indian market while Visa comes up with lots of advertisements wherever we go? Mastercard, instead of going with high budget promotions, they rather provide real value to the customers by giving extensive travel benefits like complimentary lounge access.

This way, they are able to grab more customers who actually spend. Also they can convince bank about the lounge access features which Visa doesn’t provide on basic variant. Similar to Priority Pass, Mastercard doesn’t own any lounges but are affiliated with existing lounges to give access to its customers. The list gets updated every year and the latest lounges are mentioned below.

I am a mastercard holder for two decades. My experience at Above Grround Level lounge in Blr airport is horrible. Very blunt amd curt staff. Rajesh at front desk was terrible. Extremely poor hospitality.

    Hello Sir
When i told the Credit Card guy in HDFC about this… that Master Card has more lounges then Visa.. so he said nothing like that… both have good lounges….
Sir do you have the List of Visa Lounges in India to compare it with the Mastercard List above so that it can be compared easily.
    Thank you.

Most of the comments and answers you find here are beyond customer care ex. theoretical knowledge, which is why its being shared.
Check both Visa/master card sites yourself to find the real truth 🙂

Priority Pass is the solution. Most top end card in popular banks issues this PP card. like Amex, Citi, etc.

There is a lounge for domestic T2 departures called Travel Club lounge, i’ve reviewed it in my older posts as well. But Mastercard does not have access to this lounge. Maybe in future it might get added.

I have one ADD ON master platinum card with different names mentioned in both the cards. Do they allow both the cards or I’ll have to pay for one ?

You can use the IVR to check the same. Usually Add-on cards on normal cards won’t have access.
