Now Get Complimentary Lounge Access on Amex Platinum Travel Credit Card

By | August 19, 2016

I got a customized mail from American Express India today that displays all the benefits of my existing card, with a note that i’ve 4 complimentary lounge access per year on my American Express Platinum travel Credit Card. Full review of this card can be seen here. At the time of applying for this card, free lounge access was not there as a part of the program, however i guess American Express has launched this benefit to meet and beat the competition.

Enjoy 4 Complimentary Lounge Access on American Express Platinum Travel Credit Card:

The lounges are more or less same as that of MasterCard lounge program. However, good news is that you also get access to:

  • Travel Club Lounge at Mumbai T2 Domestic departure &
  • Bangalore Plaza Premium (Transit) lounge. This is actually the hidden Day Hotel Lounge located in Departure side and its not the transit lounge built by GVK, which i initially thought. Its operated by Plaza Premium Staffs though.

These 2 lounges cannot be accessed via Mastercard/Diners, but will certainly end up adding them to the list in future. Its just a matter of time as adding lounges to the network takes some work.

  • Limits: 4 Complimentary Lounge Access/Year – Still worth it.
  • Discounted Rates after completing 4 Access which is good too.

FYI, i recently visited (Mid August 2016) Bangalore Transit lounge and i was said that we can access the lounge even without a ticket for upcoming flight which makes it a sort of “Arrivals lounge”. As this lounge is actually in arrivals area, i wonder why they’re not calling it as Arrivals lounge rather want to call it as “Transit Lounge”.

    Hi Sid,

Great job with the blog. Does the American Express Platinum travel card also allows you to access the American Express lounges in Delhi and Mumbai? Or is it only if you hold the jet American Express card?

    Hi Sid,

I just received my Amex Platinum Travel card. Its having 4 complimentary Lounge visits in a year.
I am travelling this Friday from IGI Hyderabad airport. My flight is at 5 AM, so I m planning to reach to airport in night only. Is the Hyderabad airport lounge open 24 hours?
How much time I can spend in the lounge as the complimentary access from Amex?
Is there any time limit for the visit?

    Thanks for you valuable information.
    Rakesh.

Check out the respective lounge review 🙂
Gen really 3 hrs is permitted in the lounge, but no one practically asks you to leave unless you annoy them.

Hi, could you tell me if Jet Amex Voyage card allows a guest to accompany me in the lounge? Because if not, it’d be a total waste since I hardly travel alone.

Domestic lounges visa signature or world master card or some rupay cards. For international you need priority pass. Amex is for domestic only.

    Hi All,

Amex official website says we can take 1 guest along with the card as complimentary any one has tried this ??

“Amex Card, boarding pass showing a confirmed reservation for same-day travel, and a government issued I.D.

1 guest and children under 12 have complimentary access”.

will be visiting Amex-Delhi lounge this month end.

    Hi Sir,
I had travelled to Bhutan last year through Kolkata. I accessed Kolkata lounge using Priority Pass since was told by lounge staff that this is an international lounge and Regalia first will be chargeable. But in the billing statement, it was chargeable. Apart from raising a complaint, did I miss something?

Priority pass swipes within india are chargeable , clearly mentioned in T&Cs of the priority pass application that Amex gives us… only international visits are complimentary till the number of visits specified on the relevant card

It’s is your prerogative to find out whether you can visit the lounge for free via the Regalia or Regalia First or any other card swipe. The staff in the lounge don’t know the benefits of your cards so they can tell you a lot of things but it is you who should know the benefits of your own card. Having said that, in case or HDFC, the Priority Pass that is issued cannot be used for complimentary visit in any airport lounge in India. The word International Lounge doesn’t include international terminal lounges in India. It simply means Lounges outside India. So the complimentary entry to International lounges works only when the PP is used outside. Since you used the PP inside India, hence you were charged. You can’t do anything about it now since it is clearly mentioned in their terms and on the website too.

Does the Amex travel card have access to Intenational lounges??

No, though it has priority pass complimentary but no free visits, So it’s useless for international lounges
