Amex Reserve Offer: Save 20% on Flipkart, MakeMyTrip & Zomato spends

Amex Reserve Offer

American Express India has gone full swing this Quarter and has launched multiple offers across various credit and charge cards that’s worth exploring. Here is the offer targeted for the American Express Platinum Reserve Card holders:

Offer Details

Offer20% Cashback on select merchants
MerchantsFlipkart, MakeMyTrip, Zomato
Offer Period1st April 2021 to 30th June 2021
Max. Cap5,000 INR

The offer is definitely good, but not aggressive enough for the kind of fee they charge on Reserve. I feel 30% off or at-least 25% off would have made more sense than just 20% but well, something is better than nothing.

Bottomline

I’ve been holding the Plat Reserve for a while (swap from Amex Jet Privilege) and I rarely use it these days as I don’t find a need. That said, offers like this certainly helps. Hope it gets better in future.

Not to forget, when you have premium cards like Reserve, you’re eligible for Amex premium offers like the 25% off with Taj, etc. So Reserve is useful in a way but for a very very small segment.

What’s your take on the new Amex Plat Reserve offer? Feel free to share your thoughts in the comments below.

The cashback is definitely one of the better offers on this card. And it credits quickly. Else I was using this card only for Taj benefits and lounge access.

Is this offer a targeted one? I recently got my platinum reserve card but I didn’t receive any mail regarding this offer.

Check Amex offers after you login to American Express account. The offer should be saved to the card before you use it.

Does AMEX allow the linking or clubbing of the Platinum Travel credit card with other credit/charge cards on the AMEX online account ?

Do all the points accrued from the Platinum Travel card get added to a single membership rewards point balance? If yes, then how does the expiry of the whole points balance (i.e., the MR points earned from other AMEX cards earned) work? If no, how does the redemption work in such a trifecta?

I have a Platinum charge card, a Platinum Reserve credit card and now I want to apply for a Platinum Travel card as well.
But I am unable to understand how the MR points system works in this type of a 3 card set-up with AMEX.

        Thanks for sharing this.

But I still have some doubt. I know that the points accrued on Platinum Travel credit card are valid for only 3 years. Since you’re saying that Platinum Travel credit card points cannot be linked/combined with the MR points earned from other AMEX credit/charge cards, then does it mean, that I will be assigned a different Membership Rewards number, thus creating two separate AMEX Membership Rewards points deposit account numbers, one for the Platinum Travel and the other for the standard MR points earning cards?

The reason why I’m asking all this is because I have around 8.7 Lakh Membership reward points accrued over the last 4 years, and I don’t want to lose them, given that the points earned on Platinum Travel have a validity of only 3 years. I don’t want to risk losing it all by adding a Platinum Travel. Now that you’ve cleared one doubt, I’d appreciate if you could help clarify this doubt too. I mean, the way you’ve told me, I should not worry about the other points that I’ve accumulated from the regular AMEX MR points earning cards, they would continue to have no expiry, right?

          Yes.

Not to worry about expiry of points with Amex. Even if they expire, Amex can re-credit it if requested. But I suggest to redeem them once in a while.

Do we need to save this offer on our reserver card or by default it is applicable?

You need to save it to card first, else you will not get the cashback

There is a new offer. Spend 5L a year on the plat reserve and get Taj voucher worth 10k. And it’s applicable year after year.
