New: Indusind Bank Signature Legend Credit Card Review

By | October 19, 2018

Indusind Bank has recently launched a new credit card to their portfolio under Visa Signature variant and called it as Legend Credit card, in some places they also mentioned it as Signature Legend credit card. This appears to be positioned anywhere between Pinnacle credit card and Signature credit card variants but is infact better than Pinnacle credit card if used with a strategy as mentioned below.

Its a Paywave/Contactless Card and it seems the card number is not embossed on top of the card, that’s what their image says atleast, as below,

Indusind Bank Signature Legend Credit Card

  • Joining Fee: Rs.10,000+GST (no vouchers (or) Rs.25,000+GST with Vouchers

Indusind is not transparent when it comes to joining fee, but i came to know that this card is available for Rs.10k or Rs.25k and you get equivalent shopping vouchers. You may loose what you pay as taxes though. They seems to be issuing below vouchers now,

  • 10K Pantaloons voucher
  • 10K UCB voucher
  • 10K Woodland voucher
  • 10K Yatra.com voucher
  • 10K Hidesign voucher

Good to see new set of brands with indusind these days. Yatra voucher is best fit for those who fly often, else, Pantaloons/UCB/Woodland gives good value for money as well.

Note: They no longer issue vouchers on 10k Variant.

Indusind Bank Legend Credit Card Reward points:

  • Weekdays: 1RP/Rs.100 (1% value)
  • Weekends: 2RP/Rs.100 (2% value)
  • 1 RP = Rs.1
  • 4000 bonus reward points on spends above 6 lacs from the card issue date. The bonus points will be credited post completion of 1 year.

So if you can spend 6 Lakhs in a year, all on weekends, this is what you get: Rs.16,000 as cash credit (Rs.12,000 Regular points + Rs.4,000 Bonus Points)

That’s about ~2.6% Reward rate which is almost equal to Pinnacle credit card that’s issued @ a whooping Rs.50,000 Joining fee. So if you can spend with the above strategy, you no longer need the Pinnacle card. Simply get the Legend card 🙂

Airport Lounge Access:

Though they’ve mentioned “You can also enjoy free visits in a year to international Lounges located within India and abroad.” in their website, there is no proper info on that. In meantime, they’ve recently added free Priority pass visits to Pinnacle card.

Foreign Currency Mark-up Fee:

Enjoy a partial wavier on Foreign Currency Mark-up on your Foreign Currency Transactions till 31st Dec 2017.

  • Foreign currency mark up will be charged at 1.8%
  • Discounted Foreign Currency Mark-up is applicable for transactions done till 31st Dec 2017
  • The foreign currency markup will be charged at 3.5% and the differential amount will be credited end of calendar month on the cardholders card account.

That’s a nice move on Forex Markup fees, this feature makes this card to the list of best credit cards for international use.

Other Benefits: Golf Access, Roadside Repair Service, Concierge service

Features of Indusind Signature Legend Credit Card:

  • CardExpert Rating: 4/5 [yasr_overall_rating]
  • Reward rate: 1% to Upto 2.7%
  • Complementary Airport lounge access: Yes, at Visa Signature Lounges (2 free access/quarter)
  • Foreign Exchange Markup fee: 1.8%+Tax until Dec 2017 (3.5%+tax after that)
  • Fuel Surcharge Waiver: Enjoy 0% surcharge (Transactions between INR 400/- to INR 4000/-)

With a decent reward rate and a nice spend based bonus, Indusind Bank Signature Legend Credit Card is a pretty nice offering with the kind of joining fee they have. However, you need to spend only on weekeneds to get the maximum value back, which makes it little bit tricky.

What’s our take on the new Indusind Bank Signature Legend Credit Card? Share your thoughts in comments below.

For me, it seems Iconia is better than this in terms of joining fee and reward rate. What is your say Sid?

      It is indeed.
But if there is a reasonable upcoming spend on these voucher brands, its good to go on this as well, mainly for low markup fee.

Iconia has better rewards compared to this however only ripe is AMEX is not accepted like VISA everywhere and Amazon.in doesn’t accept AMEX cards issued by other banks

        1. Unlimited Lounge Access for Both Primary and Addon Card Holders
        2. Separate Business Card Addon for your Business
        3. Reward Points of 2% for spends on weekends
        4. Low joining fee compared to this new Signature Legend card.

One additional benefit in Legend is 4000 bonus points for 6 lakhs+ spend every year which makes up for one time fees and also .5% you get extra for Iconia

Got a call , they offered to upgrade my platinum to legend for 7500+ tax and no voucher . They said 10k scheme is not there only 25k with jet voucher . Also, lounge access is only domestic and not for international. The 4000 reward point for 6 lakhs is applicable every year and not one time. Seriously thinking of upgrading instead of signature card which is 10k without vouchers

    Hi Sid,
I had a question about Indusind credit card. I got a call from their sales guys and he offered me a LTF card for Indusind Platinum credit card. He sent me a brochure and the card looked good.
Do you have any knowledge about this card? I combed through the website, but I did not find a review. Very little is available elsewhere too.
Due to the bad reputation of IndusInd, I’m hesitating about it.

Just applied for the Legend card today. IndusInd is running a promotional offer where all new cards and existing IndusInd credit cards (lower variant) can be upgraded to the Signature Legend at Rs 6,999 + taxes (18%) as a one time joining fee. No welcome benefits provided though.
Joining fee with welcome benefits remains same at 25k + taxes (18%).

Got it from the home branch directly. Was not able to check if it works for the online application as well.

  10. Arjun Mahajan

    Reasons:
    1. The cash credit is quite rewarding in the current landscape after various devaluations from other banks. Effectively a little over 2.5% if done on weekends and achieving 6L spends a year.
    2. Plan to split the overall expenses between the cards I hold currently i.e. YesFirst preferred, Amex Gold & Platinum and the applied Legend.
    3. Cash credit on Fuel spends as well along with a Fuel surcharge waiver. Handy for the heavy fuel consumptions I have in a month.
    4. I use the golf benefits regularly given by the Mastercard powered YesFirst preferred. Plan on using the golf benefits given by the Visa powered Legend for a few other golf courses not covered under Mastercard occasionally.
    5. BOGO tickets on Bookmyshow (3+3 in a month) is a handy feature to take the family/friends out for a Movie.
    6. Support from Indus Exclusive customer support is prompt and apt if ever needed. Not as courteous as the Amex people but they get the job done. Also, the physical bank is walking distance from my place of work, if any support is ever needed.
    7. Entry to Visa Signature with the hope to upgrade to Visa Infinite in the future.

    Cons:
    1. Joining fee is indeed extremely high. Convinced myself to get it cause of the cash credit I had generated over the last one year from Indus Exclusive Platinum Debit card.
    2. The online/offline tie-ups for cashbacks and rewards are less in comparison to other banks. Hopefully, they get aggressive soon with it in future.
    3. Their lounge program is a mere formality. But the YesFirst preferred & Amex Platinum are there to balance it out for both Domestic/Internation lounges.

Will be able to share a better review after having used the Legend card.

Upgraded from Indusind Iconia AMEX to Indusind Legend. Will receive the same within 8 days. Got almost Rs. 14000 /- last year with Iconia Amex 2% weekend rewards, a real gem of a card. However fed up of the non acceptence of AMEX at POS in Nagpur, Petrol stations, Amazon, Snapdeal sale etc. Upgrading to Legend with heaps of benefits for me. Though joining a bit higher (10 K + GST without gifts), but worth the benefits. Advantages over Iconia AMEX – Weekend 2 % rewards (same as Iconia AMEX), 3 free tickets in a month on BMS with additional 50 Rs. off on F&B option (current offer – max 300 off on thu, fri, sat & sun), Foreign currency markup 1.8% till mar 2018 (I Travel atleast once a year international), No ATM cash withdrawl fees for lifetime ( great in emergencies), Fuel waiver 1% with reward points applied (Iconia AMEX not accepted at Fuel stations even not on HPCL in Nagpur), Contactless card, 2 RP at weekends, 1 RP at Weekdays, 1RP = 1 Rs., Bonus 4000 RP on crossing 6 lakhs spends in 1 year. I think i did the right thing upgrading to Legend. Comments are invited !

I don’t think is a right choice as you need to spend a LOT to get the value back. You could’ve instead used some other visa/mc as backup card like SBI prime or Yes First preferred.

Its anyways fine if you get value back through BMS.

Select account is one step below Exclusive account. Some features are – Enhanced Insurance, Emergency Card replacement & cash disbursement International, Free Platinum Select Debit Card, Free ATM withdrawal Domestic + International, Fuel surcharge 1% waiver, 6X Rewards structure, 1% Markup fee, 365 days banking. On holidays also, Concierge, Doorstep Banking, Cashback credit 1RP=50paise or 2RP=1JPmile

    ₹5000/- Flipkart Voucher plus
₹10000/- Voucher redeemable at either Tanishq/GRT or Joy Alukas Jewellers.

The executive also mentioned that the joining fees would be reversed within 3 months from the date of joining provided I spend minimum of ₹300-400. Based on my Diners Club Miles card, they promised a credit limit up to ₹7,50,000/-
The offer seems to good to be true. How can I verify the authenticity of these claims since all the information is shared over call and I don’t have it in writing. Thoughts ?

I don’t think such offer would be legit. First of all no bank will give welcome gift more than what you pay. You pay 10K and getting 15K welcome vouchers doesn’t sound legit to me.

I have IndusInd credit card too, they won’t reverse the joining fee AFAIK. How the bank will get benefit if they give you welcome benefit as well as reverse the joining fee?

Could be a fraudulent attempt to gather your personal information.

Maulik, just curious, why do you want to go for Legend if you already have SBI Elite? I also hold SBI Elite and for a spend of ~6L per annum I think Elite provides better value. Yes, if the 2 free movie tickets you get every month in Elite is getting wasted, then probably switching to Legend might make sense. If I am missing something please let me know and I’ll also consider switching to Legend. Thanks 🙂

Yes It is perfectly enough for that. You will probably get limit of Rs.3,30,000/- in Indusind Bank Credit Card . But there are many other factors also to decide it. If all goes well, you will get 110% limit of current credit card. The approval rate of Indusind Bank Credit Card is also very high. So you can go ahead.

I applied for this credit card and for me it has been great for cashback. The cap on cash back is Rs 10,000 per month but the excess can be carried forward to next month. For me, it has been great for electricity bills (running into lakhs for me routed through Paytm) and have 2 percent cash back. On new application i got 3 options –
    1. 9999 plus tax for no benefit
    2. 25000 plus tax for 25k worth of vouchers (Oberoi/Yatra)
    3. 50000 plus tax for 50k worth of vouchers( Oberoi 2 nights)
Also, one of the best features of this card that you have missed is advance payment to card to dynamically increase your credit limit and pay higher amounts with no over limit charges.
Also, I like that the 1.8 percent foreign currency markup has been extended till 2020.
While I also have the ICICI Amazon pay CC which also earns me 2 percent cash back on electricity bills (through amazon pay) and has no weekend condition with no cap which i feel is better for cash back. The biggest difference is that –
    1. No overlimit charges on Indusind card with dynamic credit limit with advance payment
    2. The cashback is on amazon pay ( which I don’t mind at all) it is as good as cash.
    3. The Amazon Pay CC is without joining fees.

I also hold few other cards like Icici Amazon, Yes Prosperity Edge etc. Will this be a good replacement for ELITE as there won’t be any annual/renewal charges on this? . Later I was simply denied the Oberio vouchers & only given the option of only vouchagram. The reason for this was their executive didn’t tick the right boxes.
Now after 5 months I get a message that my card has been cancelled because of internal review & moreover the bank is unable to assign any reason for it.

For those holding this Legend variant or any other IndusInd card – Kindly explain what the following points mean ~ taken as it is from cardholders agreement & MITC:

    – “When the Card is cancelled, or the Card Account is closed at the request of the Cardholder, it is the cardholders responsibility to destroy the card and linked cards. Subject to the foregoing provisions, the obligations arising out of these terms and conditions of Cardholder will not hold the Bank liable in case of improper/fraudulent/ unauthorised/ duplicate/ erroneous use of the Card and/or the PIN, through the Card falling in the hands of any third party or through the PIN coming to the knowledge of any third party”.

    – “The Card and the Card Number are valid from the first day of the ‘Valid From’ date on the Card, as the case may
instructions. be, until it expires or until the facility is cancelled or until the Card Account is closed for whatever reason. If the Bank processes a Card Transaction after the Card and/or Card Number has expired or the facility has been cancelled, it does not mean that the Bank has extended the validity term of the Card and/or the Card Number”.

    – “Such termination shall also be deemed a termination of all facilities accorded by the Bank to a Cardholder. In the event charges are incurred on the Card after the closure of card account & after the Cardholder claims to have destroyed the Card, the Cardholder shall be entirely liable for the charges incurred on the Card whether or not the same are the result of misuse and whether or not”

I sure hope it does not mean what I think it means! Another “WTF?” moment!

    1. Praveen Katiyar

      @ Shivi
      It means that,
      1) if you close the account i.e cancel the card, it’s still your liability that no transaction is done, as they assume you ‘only’ were party to the card no./cvv etc hence you have not shared this with others and obviously destroyed the card.

      2) If the card company processes the trxn even after your closing/expiry the account, that does not mean that they have extended the card facilities/expiry date.

I hope I am making some sense.

      Reply
      1. Shivi

You are making perfect sense Parveen, but i already understood that. Let me put my query in a simplified manner:

Does it mean that IndusInd can & maybe will process a charge on a blocked/cancelled/closed credit card account and hold us liable to pay for the charges?!?!

I just minted 4kINR by spending 2 lakh INR on sat and sun. Best part they don’t even charge redemption fee for cash credit. Best part, even in this lockdown, 24×7 customer care works. I called them at 3am morning. Unlike HDFC and ICICI my call got through in one go. So far loving this card.

    Hi Siddharth,
I have just received an email offer to upgrade to IndusInd Legend card from IndusInd Platinum. The Platinum card is LTF for me as I got the joining fee waved off with spend of 25000 in the first 60 days. The mail is not saying anything about joining fees. The rewards are certainly better. Have come across comments suggesting the upgrade is offered as LTF. In that case, I feel it good to go for it, what do you think of opting for an upgrade with a joining fee? I have HDFC Millennia and Flipkart Axis that offer lounge access, and Amazon Pay ICICI and SBI Simplyclik giving decent, rewards.

I find this bank is run by frauds. Initially IndusInd Bank local Manager called on my residence and made tall claims regarding Legend Visa Credit card issued by IndusInd bank. Got some papers signed hurriedly and when I wanted to see what the papers are, he said nothing to worry about , copy of all the papers would be made available. But nothing happened. I believed that man because , I understand an organization can not be run with frauds. Then came the surprise, said I have to cough up 50K plus GST in lieu of a trip to their predefined destination. OK…agreed. They sent two coupons validity till May ’20. Due to lockdown I requested to extend the time. They extended it till November 20. Since senior citizens are advised by the government machineries, not to travel for fun, I requested to extend time further till government declares normalcy or refund the money. They did not agree to it. Further I wrote them to send copies of all the documents on which I put my signature. They did not answer. I wrote to their Area Head, Regional Head, Country Head. Even then there is no response. As such I believe this bank is run by a bunch frauds.

I have upgraded my IndusInd Platinum to IndusInd Legend in June. I paid 15K + GST and I was told I would get 2% on weekend transactions and 15K as Amazon vouchers via Gyftr. When I tried to look up the fine print regarding product details on the bank website, the link was broken.
I am still awaiting the Gyftr points (request raised). However, what struck me was that there are many restrictions and exceptions to the 2% rule rewards on weekends rule. Government fees, insurances don’t earn anything. One electricity bill through Paytm earns 1%, another earns 0.07% which is also arbitrary. Payment to Fasttag is 0.08%. Payment to Olacabs is 0.06%, Zomato is 1%. All transactions through PayPal in USD is 1%. Payments in foreign currency (Skype, etc.) also 1%. Paying to a .gov (US) site is 0%.

I wish the exceptions were made clear to me as a majority of my transactions fall into this bracket. I have raised a request claiming the additional points but I doubt the will give additional points.

    Hello Everyone,
Even I got the offer from paisabazaar for LTF legend card. They went through the application, but couldn’t process as the video kyc was pending. This happened 2 weeks back. 1 week back I got call from indusind support for the credit card application. They insisted a lot for the legend LTF card , I asked for written confirmation from the bank , that the card is LTF, even after getting that, I didn’t feel it right and went on with aura edge card, got the card in a week

Called customer support to enquire about fees on my aura edge platinum card, I was informed it was a LTF card , the catch here was They were giving me an upgrade offer to legend card with fees 10k + gst and 8k vouchers.

This is for the legend card , which the bank was ready to give as LTF free and suddenly for upgrade they wanted money.

I used to redeem reward points as cashback by calling customer care. However I was informed today that I need to visit Indusmoments website in order to redeem.
The catch is they have started to charge 100rs + GST per redemption request. Better to go for card like Axis Ace for better cashback ecosystem.

The cash redemption is reduced to 0.75 paise per point. So effectively it is a 0.75% (weekday) and 1.5% (weekend) card now. So this one goes to sock drawer now.

    1. Abhi

So the value chart has changed. 16000 pts on 6Lpa spent (weekend only) is now worth 12K in cash minus redemption fee. So it’s down to about 1.9% , except Oberoi vouchers which are still 1:1.

Got an upgrade offer to this card from my Platinum Master Contactless card and took it as it was an LTF upgrade. The card got devalued recently and so doesn’t hold much attraction in terms of rewards, but the lounge access that wasn’t there on Platinum made me go for this card. There are too many exceptions for the 2x weekend reward points. Think they should have kept it simple and kept the reward rate at 1and 2 percent, anything less than that, just doesn’t cut it for a premium card particularly when you have some brilliant products from Axis, ICICI and even IDFC First right from the entry level.

Think it still is decent on LTF. The domestic lounge access itself is a good enough reason to consider it when getting LTF. Also, I got a 1 year Easydiner Prime membership as complimentary to go with it, and its totally worth it. The point calculation is a bit strange and non-transparent, but I basically keep the card for lounge access and the offers from time-to-time.

Apart from redemption at Rs0.75, I find transfer to Vistara CV a good option at 1:1. At the moment CV points can easily be valued at Rs1. Eg a BOM-DEL economy seat costs Rs6K vs 5K CV miles + taxes under Rs1K.
That way Legend RPs can still get you 1:1 rupee value despite the devaluation in statement credit. During CV transfer fests its even better.

Only Priority Pass membership is complimentary, for accessing the lounge, we have to pay extra.
