Lounge Review: The Loyalty Lounge (Mumbai – Terminal 1B)

By | April 8, 2017

This is a review by our regular reader & contributor Manish R Khetwani who recently visited “The Loyalty Lounge” at Mumbai Airport – Terminal 1B, (Domestic Departure)

The departure terminal for my Indigo flight to Jammu was at 1B, Mumbai Domestic Airport. Since there was still time for my flight to take off, I also decided to visit the Loyalty lounge at the mezzanine floor after first visiting the Good Times Bar (Mumbai Airport – Terminal 1B) that i reviewed earlier.

Loyalty Lounge Entrance

Now this lounge should not be confused with the Loyalty Lounge at T2. This is the old clipper lounge at T1 which has been re-designated as the Loyalty lounge. Both are operated by the EIH Ltd./Oberoi Airport Services.

It was comparatively less crowded than the Good Times Bar. That’s not surprising since the complimentary access to this lounge is restricted to Diners Club Card/ Priority Pass holders/ Rupay platinum debit Cards & lounge club members. Paid access is also available for Rs. 700/-.

An important point to note is that VISA cardholders have no complimentary access to both the lounges at Terminal 1B. That’s also because now most airlines are now shifting to the T2 terminal.

My Experience at Mumbai Airport – Loyalty Lounge

The lounge had a premium feel in terms of location, layout, space, seating and even the food served, although the choice was limited. The buffet spread was quiet basic in terms of few dishes and beverages. As per my enquiry regarding wifi, the same was not available.

This however remains the saving grace of T1, especially since the shutdown of the Carnations and the American Express Lounge w.e.f. 1st April 2017.

Facilities at Mumbai Airport Loyalty Lounge (Terminal 1B)

  • Wifi: No
  • Food: Yes – Buffet with few dishes
  • Ambiance: Good
  • Recharge Station: Yes
  • Complimentary Access on:  Priority Pass, Diners Club
  • CardExpert Lounge Rating: 4/5 [yasr_overall_rating]

Its not a great lounge, still, something is better than nothing. Have you been to the Loyalty Lounge at Mumbai Airport T1? Feel free to share your experiences below.

    Hi There,

I would like to access if the buffet food was complimentary (access with credit card) or one needs to pay separately for the food?

Service here at Mumbai T2 is degrading week by week. Earlier they were providing cold drink cans of different variety including diet coke. Now they stop doing it totally. Also they were providing different type of flavored yogurt which is also stopped. Almost every time in the morning they run short of coffee cups and different food items and they are not replaced for a while.

It seems as if they are going out to business or not interested in providing service.

Sir, it will be very kind of u as always if I can please tell me if the lounge at domestic terminal or terminal 1Mumbai is open or closed? As I have a flight on Sunday via Mumbai with a half of three hours with my family. My cousin went day before yesterday and he was told that the lounge is closed. It will be very disappointing as I always go home via Delhi. This is the first time I have chosen this route and it is very disheartening to know if the lounge is closed.
Many thanks in advance, waiting for your reply.

How many lounges do we have (as of today) on Terminal 1B in Mumbai? Also, I have Visa Signature, ICICI Visa, and Mastercard world cards (No Diners/Amex access left).

    Which all can I access?

Firstly, u have to be lucky enough to have your flight from first floor on Mumbai domestic airport terminal for indigo. Lounge is in ground floor and if u have a flight from first floor (after gate no 20), Ur luck is too bad, leave aside the cards and u cannot do anything in that situation (flights departure from any of the floor depends upon the air traffic and has no fix schedule),
It happened to me a couple of months ago and I had left with no option stranded at the airport for 3 hours having 4 cards for lounge access in my wallet. From that time I have decided never to board a flight from mumbai domestic terminal.
Wish u good luck buddy, enjoy.

Thanks for the info Sumeet. I have one more question, can I go first at ground floor for lounge use and then proceed to first floor for boarding. Is it feasible? Also if there are any other lounge at First floor level which have Diners/Amex/ MC Access

You can’t go to access lounge in ground floor if u have a flight from first floor as the lounge comes after the security check and u can only cross it if u have the gate numbers that are in ground floor.
There are no lounge at first floor, u have to pay and eat at the food court.

Thanks sumeet for great knowledge sharing. Got boarding gate 10B and hence went to lounge. Lounge facilities are not upto the mark. I will rate them 2/5 as of 6th Feb 2018.

    Hello
What is the use of platinum rupay debit card
    For lounge facilities.

U get 2 free lounge access visits per quarter (domestic) with a rupay platinum debit card, and unlike visa, rupay platinum has a wider acceptance when it comes to lounge access.

An experience I will like to share. In month of Jan it happened with me, for both Mumbai Terminal 1 & 2, the diners card didn’t work at Lounge. I had to use back ( Priority Pass in Terminal 1 and Another Master card with T2)
Always have a back up, thats based on my experience.

Priority Pass still works in domestic? I was under the impression that all credit cards have removed free access for domestic lounges for PP.

Is there any lounge on domestic terminal now? Has anyone used it in recent past? One of my friend told me there is no lounge at domestic terminal as of now. Can anyone clear this?

Recently I was at Mumbai domestic terminal 1b. I had a time hence thought to go to lounge. Upon inqury I found that The Loyalty lounge is closed down and only Good Times Bar lounge is available. Went to that lounge but found that they were not accepting any card except AMEX which luckily I had. I had swiped my Amex MRCC card for RS 400 and got access. That too only buffet was available. Quality of lounge was okay.

My Icici mastercard Coral credit card policy states one lounge access per quarter. Does it actually mean only one usage in 3 months?

The Oasis Lounge at Mumbai T1 terminal is a very special Lounge as compared to All Airport Lounges across anywhere..
Accepts only Axis bank- some level of Cards and AMEX Platinum..and Priority Pass
Any other Mastercard or Visa NOT ACCEPTED, whereas everywhere else these are accepted, including Mumbai T2.
I found this extremely weird and disappointing….as I use Lounges across all airports.
This was my first attempt at Mumbai T1, as I always had travelled through Mumbai T2 in earlier occasions

The above comment is still valid about the Oasis lounge. HDFC regalia not accepted. Got access on Yes bank First master card and ICICI Coral Visa debit card.
