Get 10X Reward Points on booking a BMW with HDFC Diners Black Credit Card

By | January 16, 2020

After getting you spoilt with 10X rewards on travel & shopping, now HDFC Bank is making use of their most popular 10X rewards program to lure you buy a BMW by throwing 10X rewards on it. This is massive. Here are the offer details,

Offer Details

  • Offer: Get 10X rewards on booking a BMW by paying Rs.2L advance amount online & grab 66,000 Reward Points
  • Eligible Cards: HDFC Diners Black
  • The Offers is not applicable on the BMW 7 Series, BMW X7 and BMW M Cars
  • The Offer is applicable only if Car is invoiced by BMW Dealer and booked by Card member on or before 31st January 2020.
  • Fulfilment: Within 90 days from the date of making the booking amount
  • Source

That’s a sweet & simple offer from HDFC. This means you save Rs.66,000 on the purchase, which is indeed a very good amount.

While the offer is good, they could have given a longer period to avail it, as I don’t think any one would rush to get a BMW under 15 days just because of the offer.

Note: It doesn’t seem to be a targeted offer, but I haven’t received it on my email for some reason.

Bottomline

This is not the first time to see credit card offers on Cars as we’ve seen Amex-Audi & Amex-Hyundai offers, but this is by far the highest rewarding one. It would be nice if cars <10L too gets these offers, as that’s when these offers would get really popular.

That aside, buying a car on a credit card is a good feeling as I got one last year by swiping HDFC Infinia. The ~40 days interest free part & the rewards are quite attractive.

I wish someday the luxury car makers come up with a co-brand credit card and offer their cars to cardholders for FREE, maybe at-least for a month or so, what say? 😀

Thanks to Tanmay & Raman for sharing the offer details.

    Hi Siddharth,

Doesn’t the car dealership charge extra for using credit cards?

They don’t for the booking amount. For paying beyond the booking amount, yes and there’s a detailed article on it if you follow the links.

While the offer sounds great, I wonder if the potential savings can be much higher when you deal directly with a dealership. The pure cash discount can run well over 5nlakhs even on the X1 if you drive a hard bargain. An online booking works great for cars like the Kia Seltos or MG Hector where there arent any price discounts due to the steep demand. On premium cars like BMW, dont think the saving is great.

Yes, that’s one thing to think about but I assume they would allow the discount as well as this 10X comes from online txn and not really linked directly to the “actual price” of the car.

Well, If you compare % wise, 66k discount is lemons from Dinners standard even for the BMW bikes. I initially thought 10X on entire amount and was like :-$ :-$ :-$. And yes they charge extra for CC even if you buy car/ bike . I think Amex have better relationship with BMW.

Hey, I got an HDFC DIners Black with a pretty great limit. If I got this offer by booking for 2l, what are the possible options for redeeming these Rs 66k reward points. I’ve gotten around 10-15k reward points collected so far and can’t seem to figure out how to redeem them as 1:1 value.

    Any help with this?

For 1:1 value you can use for travel tickets, or hotel bookings from their portal only.

You can redeem these points for max value(1:1) for flights and hotel booking through HDFC smartbuy portal.

      @harpreet,
In addition to using smartbuy portal, you can also convert to airmiles in 1:1 ratio.

The 1:1 ratio is for vistara only though. For other airlines you have to check.

I somehow like the Amex platinum offer last quarter. 2 lac bonus points minimum on X3, all the way to 5 lac bonus points on 7 series along with regular earn.
