April Giveaway: Thanking Top 15 Loyal Readers

By | April 25, 2019

Its been a while since we did the last Giveaway, so this time I made it a bit bigger than usual, both in terms of gift value & the No. of winners.

Rewarding the Top 15 Loyal Readers

I picked the winners who helped the blog based on multiple factors, for the period (Sep 2018 – March 2019). So, the Winners & the respective gifts as Amazon Vouchers are as below:

I’ll contact each of them via email within a week to deliver the above said rewards.

As always, your helpful interactions has phenomenal value to a lot of new & existing readers.

Once again, thanks to all of you who had contributed to the blog and also thanks to regular readers around who’s supporting the blog.

Some changes going forward…

As there are too many repeated comments coming in every now and then, I’m planning to reduce the comment approval rates, thereby making the content in comments section more unique, which will help new readers and also to those who’s answering them.

You might have noticed some names above (like #15) for the first time, wondering how they came in? That’s because, I’ve added more factors that decides the winners, like quality over quantity in the comments and even some other factors that’s beyond the comments system.

Ideally, if someone is helping the community in some way or other, they will be honoured.

Keep reading, keep sharing & keep contributing – it helps others to make wise choice, sometimes it also helps us to get a clarity of our own thoughts!

Thanks Sid. While, I would love contributing to the blog, it’s really getting difficult for me to take out time these days. I still find time to read the comments and drop in my suggestions and help people with their queries whenever I can. Association with your blog is really something, I have been hugely benefitted from, not because of the give aways, but coz of the constant knowledge that we get from each other. I hope this blog grows more in the days to come. Keep writing and sharing!!

Not just for the gift , but for the huge saving made huge savings since demonetization. Demonetization became I started reading you blog right after that.

l now get close to 5% (translating to over 3 lacs a year) on all spends through card (3.33% rewards) and then paying the bill through cred using dcb debit card (1.6% cashback) plus cred rewards.

Thanks so much for making this blog truly worth an every day visit.

Hi Amann, which DCB debit card gives 1.6%. Any other card for online payments like CRED?

      Hi,

How do you get 3.3% rewards? Which DCB savings account debit card gives 1.6%?

      1. Amann

        Hi Jeet / Inder

I have SCB ultimate credit card which gives 3.33% in rewards on all spends including wallets like paytm.

Then I use Cred app and pay via Development Credit Bank Elite/ family Account debit card which gives 1.6% cashback upto 2,000/- a month capped further at Rs 20k in a year. (1.25 lac spends a month capped at 12.5 lacs a year) . Best debit card I know where you need to maintain around 25k balance.

Plus cred rewards and other card / Paytm promotions makes it even better.

CRED app doesn’t allow the option to use debit card payment on the app unless the amount is more than 1 lakh. So this wonderful deal to earn more rewards and cashback is off now. The very purpose of opening the DCB Elite account seems like a mistake to me.

I don’t think there are any sites or services that allows us to make a credit card bill payment using the DCB bank debit card. Are you aware of any?

There is one app where you can pay bills using debit card, i.e. Mobikwik. Let me know if it helps.

So I find myself right in the middle of this list! It is all because of the super high quality content that we have this obsession of Cardexpert and how that has ultimately influenced some of the important financial decisions for most of the community members. We will keep contributing and nurture this space into a far bigger community.

Thanks Sid for the recognition! 🙂

@Sid: Instead of reducing the number of comments why not elongate the recent comments section or make it scrollable or something similar. You can appoint some moderator for screening the comments if the load is high.

Whether the comments section can be sorted in reverse order? I mean to say the latest thread comes 1st. Then we need not have to scroll much

Sid I need some help recently had used my card to book flight tickets the card bill has been generated however now the tickets stand cancelled the amount will be refunded soon.

Now should I need to pay the whole amount which is the statement amount or should I pay the amount after adjustment of refund.

    Reply
    1. Prashant Gupta

Just pay the minimun due to be on a safer side. The refund will cover the rest payment.

    2. GTMAX

Varies from Bank to Bank. For most of the banks, you need to pay the full statement amount. As far as I know , for amex you can pay after adjustment of refund

      Reply
    3. Ashish

You may pay due amount after adjustment of refund, if refund is credited before statement due date.

If you have funds then pay the bill in full and ask for excess balance refunds. The logic for such scenario differs from bank to bank. While ICICI, SBI Card do not accept merchant credit as a payment against outstanding, AmEx accepts any reversal or payment against the billed outstanding.

Once the payment is made and also the refund is received your credit card outstanding would come into Negative – Ask them to refund this thru DD or Account transfer. Usually takes 3-7 days

You will have to pay the full amount if the bill has been generated. Cashback and refunds are not adjusted against debits if bill is generated

    Sorry for going off-topic :-
ICICI has a co brand credit card with British Airways which offers 25,000 Avios on booking a return ticket from India to England on British Airways. Seems exciting.
Would be great if you could review it 🙂

Sbi got fd option for simplyclick called simply click advantage. Just walkin to nearest sbi branch and ask for simplyclick based on fd. Beware they ll try to sell you elite card.

I don’t think they will give me “elite” or “simply click” based on my details: FD amount Rs 40,000 + no credit history.

        2. ICONIA

          Vikas,
They will surely give you SBI Simply click against FD of 40000 (limit – 70%). I’m not sure about elite.
