Kochi Marriott Hotel, Kerala Review

By | May 27, 2023

I recently took a short weekend getaway to Kerala and stayed at Kochi Marriott Hotel. Given that i’ve been to cochin already and not much of places to explore, i decided to watch some movies in Lulu mall and so the idea of staying at Kochi Marriott came. Here’s the review of this amazing hotel.

Kochi Marriott Hotel

Location

Kochi Marriott hotel is located behind the Lulu mall (largest shopping mall in India) that shares the same compound and has a separate entrance to get into the hotel.

Booking

  • Revenue rate: ~8500 INR
  • I Paid: 12,500 Marriott Points

That’s definitely a decent value for the points especially because my stay included breakfast & executive lounge access.

Lobby & Checkin

The lobby was big with some sofas spread on the right and some airplane design on the left. In the evening you could see guys playing some music. It’s a lively place to be.

Check-in was quick and I was welcomed with a drink. I requested for an upgrade with lounge access and the same was granted (thanks to Gold Elite status) with the room being located in the same floor as the lounge.

The Room

The upgraded room looks good but it wasn’t big enough to call it an upgrade as I didn’t feel it spacious. Yet, it felt quite premium. Here are some of the snaps,

View from the room – Beautiful Kerala style houses

Executive Lounge

This lounge is probably the biggest lounge I’ve ever seen within India. You get lots of couches, a separate business area just incase if you want to use the computers and take some print outs. And then there is a huge dining area that’s bigger than most restaurants you would come across.

The lounge serves snacks and some cold drinks all though the day. You may expect grand food spread for evening snacks. This is typically a dinner buffet with starters, main course, fruits, juices, desserts.

Apart from that, the guy manning the lounge was bit talkative and we got some interesting information, like Sunny leone was staying in the hotel a week before our visit. 😀

Btw, you can explore the lounge in this video,

Food

As lounge food is usually limited, I decided to go to the restaurant for breakfast. They indeed had a great variety of food options but at the same time the crowd was also high.

I would rather choose to checkout the lounge for breakfast next time.

That aside, in-room dining service was quite good too. Here’s a quick look into the mouthwatering pizza I had.

Buggy Service

If you want to explore the Lulu mall, the hotel has a complimentary buggy service to take you to the mall, which is hardly ~400 meters away. Buggy was in charge during our visit so they sent Innova instead during my stay 😀

FYI, the mall has PVR Gold class and it was quite a good experience. Thanks to the Visa Bookmyshow offer that saved me a lot while watching the movies Aquaman & Petta. 🙂

Bottomline

Given the proximity of the mall, this is definitely the perfect hotel in Cochin for a weekend getaway. But, if you’ve less thing to do in the mall, you are better off going with other hotels around, as Kochi is comparatively cheaper than most other cities i’ve been to.

  • CardExpert Rating: 4.2/5

Just incase if you’re not aware, the mall, this hotel and the Grand Hyatt Kochi Bolgatty are all owned by the same guy.

This is one of the ways I maximize my Amex MR points value to>50Ps/Point. Here are some of the Amex cards that’s worth checking,

    Excellent review as always Sid.
BTW how does one get access to the lounge? Is it necessary to be gold member or higher? What tier do you have and how did you get it. And is the lounge accessible if one isn’t staying at the hotel?

Lounge access is usually for Platinum Elites and above. I’m on Gold Elite (got by staying with SPG earlier) and they considered it for upgrade.

Rooms looks to be very standard. I recently stayed over a month in the Marriott London Westminister and I must say room was very spacious with luxurious amenities. It was business trip and if I remember rooms costed whopping 400+ pounds per night average.

Great review . Btw do you transfer Amex MR points to Bonvoy points as a strategy or SPG and Marriott stays are the mainstay for these points.
Though out of context -how do you rate World of Hyatt program compared to the Bonvoy

Yes, most of my Amex points are dedicated for Marriott transfer.

World of Hyatt used to be amazing ~2 yrs before, but no more. Hilton Honours is good btw.

Wow Sid. You may have stayed in the same room as Sunny Leon – just separated by a week. Congratulations are in order.

Maybe that’s why they decided to go with a big lounge.
