I was initially planning for the axis privilege card (free for priority ac) but later changed my mind for the Vistara infinite card, as it gives new business class experience in Indian skies. You can find the actual review of the Vistara Infinite card in detail here: Axis Bank Vistara Infinite Credit Card review.
This article will be more about how I applied and got hands on it. It also covers the hands on experience of the benefits linked to the card.
Axis Bank Credit Card Application Process:
I’ve been waiting to apply for an axis bank card for a long time as I actually wanted an auto eligibility (which refreshes monthly) to kick in. I waited for almost an year but it never happened, despite being a priority customer. So I decided to go with manual application, which takes bit longer to process.
I called up my RM and they took the application along with income documents and I also attached my HDFC credit card statement to see if they can match the limit. They had no clue about it but just took the docs and I was said that I should have the card in 3 weeks approx.
Escalations: 10 days passed and I got no msg, no call, nothing. I started escalating through various channels, from RM, email support to social media. I got a call in a day from a guy at escalation desk and said that there was a delay in receiving my application at the Chennai unit. He promised that he will follow up the application closely until I get it on hand.
From then, it took another 20 days for the application to get processed and to receive it on hand. Even though I had to go through long process, it was made easy because the guy who took my case was updating me status every other day, literally. It was like having an Amex Centurion concierge 😀
Credit limit: I was surprised to see a grand limit on the card and it’s infact the highest among my existing cards. It’s no wonder that axis is generous with credit limits from various sources I know but when it comes to my account, I think decade old savings account + my previous credit card usage history with axis insta easy credit card all helped.
Unboxing Axis Bank Vistara Infinite Credit Card:
The card comes with a nice box, like Yesbank’s Yes First preferred and exclusive cards but is not so attractive as them. The card design is decent. Its a contactless card, but i was never able to use any of my contactless cards anywhere till date.
Posting of CV points:
The points for card spends gets posted to your Vistara account within ~4 days from the date of transaction. You even get the milestone vouchers at same time.
Axis bank and Vistara seem to have a wonderful integration in place as it’s probably the fastest card to post the points to account. To compare, HDFC Jet cards post the JPMiles in ~7 days and ICICI Jet Sapphiro takes ~2 months to post the JPMiles.
Note: For some reason, the welcome gift (business class voucher) gets added to the account only after ~2 months, while the spend based vouchers getting added on time.
Redemption of Vouchers:
Fortunately they started flying from Chennai just after i got the card. So I’ve already redeemed 2 business class vouchers and the redemption process was damn simple. Good part is, you can also let your friends and family members to use your vouchers. Just make sure to redeem the voucher 7 days prior to the date of travel.
You’re just a call away + 5 mins to get your ticket. The redemption charges are as low as ~Rs.500, which is very much acceptable. They ask to pay this fee only with your Vistara card, but the gateway technically accepts any card.
Club Vistara Gold:
What most of us don’t see as a direct value with this card is the Vistara Gold status. You get enrolled into club Vistara Gold within a week once your card gets approved. It comes with 3 upgrade vouchers and 2 lounge vouchers (for guests). Upgrade vouchers are worth a lot as this means another 3 business class tickets if you book on premium economy or, 3 premium economy tickets if you book on economy.
These upgrade/lounge vouchers gets added to account directly and they also send the physical kit to the registered address after a month, along with the personalised CV Gold Card.
Overall Value & Reward Rate:
You get a business class ticket for the joining fee of Rs.10k. Then, With a 7.5L spend, you get 3 business class tickets + 33,000 cv points. (Regular+bonus points). Along with the CV Gold status, here’s the total value you get:
- 3 Business Class Tickets: 60,000 INR
- 3 Upgrade Vouchers: 30,000 INR
- 33,000 CV Points: 25,000 INR
- Total value: 1,15,000 INR (15% reward rate)
While 15% reward rate is sweet, note that the reward rate mentioned here is based on the perceived value and not the actual. Which means, its not actual net savings.
- You can access the KrisFlyer Gold lounge in Singapore as well as the Business Class SilverKris lounges overseas, if you fly Singapore Airlines, even on economy. This is CV Gold benefit.
- Value of 1 CV Point = 75Ps (approx. value, on domestic ). You can also get better value, as good as Rs.1 at times.
- You can in-fact get even higher value for the points, as great as Rs.2 if you redeem for Business Class in Singapore Airlines (SE Asia) as it needs only 25k CV Points with which you get a typical perceived value of 50,000 INR, though travel time in this sector is usually ~2 hrs.
- Upgrades when you use “Upgrade Vouchers” are confirmed only 1hr before flight. Its wise not to attempt using it in Delhi-Mumbai route as there would be many willing to actually pay for it, which reduces your chances of upgrade.
A 15% reward rate is probably one of the best in industry and is no doubt that Axis Bank Vistara infinite card is a must have card in your pocket if you’re looking for domestic business class experience. The fee is also affordable and gives a great value for those in premium travel segment.
