You can maximize the returns by availing it on all add-on credit cards. It makes much sense especially on Citi Prestige.
This might not be a great offer for many as most of us are Flipkart/Amazon shoppers. It may still be useful for those doing high value Insurance/Bill payments on Paytm.
Bottomline
While every other credit card company is cutting down the reward points on wallet recharges, it sounds fishy to see a bank throw extra rewards especially on wallet recharges. Maybe they found not many do manufactured spending on Citi cards?! Only Citi/Paytm knows what they do why they do.
What’s your take on Citi bank’s 5X rewards on Wallet recharges? Feel free to share your thoughts in the comments below.
Which one is the best citi card in there 3 basic credit cards.
All have different uses i have all between me and my wife. Check out respective card details on site and decide. One is good to for fuel which almost all of us have. One is cashback and ither is rewards card with 10x points on apperal etc.
Be careful. To get 5X points, you need to recharge Paytm through Citi app or website. Otherwise, it is 3X. Unfortunately, there is no way to add supplementary cards on any Citi account (yours or receivers) and hence the offer remains 3X for supplementary, 5X for main if recharged through Citi. Note that there is a daily cap of 10K when recharging through Citi. Still a great offer, but read fine print.
I heard separate citi accounts could be created for supp. cards, not sure how it works. Anyway, its its too late now.
I doubt it. When trying to add add-on to my mom’s existing account, it says add-on card cannot be added. It doesn’t let me add her add-on to my account. When trying to create a brand new account it says the card entered is an add-on. If there is a way, it is highly unintuitive.
Either way, the offer ended with me getting over 25K miles so I’m a happy camper anyway. 😀
Have been noticing Citi getting a bit more aggressive on the multiple reward points front… They’ve been giving it for multiple purchases of late… The Paytm offer was quite something!
Wrong. Just create a separate Citi Account for the add on. Works flawlessly
Siddharth,
I was expecting this post from you for a couple of days. Great blog.
I loaded by paytm wallet with this offer last week. 9% is a good reward. They had this recharge wallet in Citi netbanking since long but i believe hardly any users used it. Testing may be 🙂
What is the normal Reward rate on Citi Cards for wallet Recharge?
