The HDFC Bank Tata Neu Infinity Credit Card is a semi-premium, co‑branded credit card designed to maximise rewards through NeuCoins, a cashback‑equivalent rewards currency that works seamlessly across the Tata ecosystem.
HDFC Bank issues two variants: Tata Neu Plus & Tata Neu Infinity
The Infinity variant is clearly the better one, thanks to better rewards and lounge access. Opting for the RuPay version unlocks UPI transactions with rewards, which is arguably the core value proposition of this card.
Here’s everything you need to know about the HDFC Tata Neu Infinity Credit Card in it’s current form,
Overview
| Type | Semi-Premium Credit Card |
| Reward Rate | 1.5% – 5% |
| Best for | UPI & Bill Payments |
| USP | Rewards on UPI Spends |
At this fee point, HDFC Bank’s Tata Neu Infinity Credit Card is quite loaded with benefits and rewards that’s very close to Premium Credit Cards.
Do note that Tata Neu also have come up with similar cards with SBICard but I would say HDFC variant is still better.
Joining Fees
| Joining Fee | Nil (Issued as FYF/LTF) |
| Welcome Benefit | 1,499 NeuCoins (on paid cards) |
| Renewal / Annual Fee | 1,499 INR + GST |
| Renewal Benefit | Nil |
| Renewal Fee waiver | On spending >3 Lakhs |
While it’s easy to grab First Year Free (FYF) offer on HDFC Bank’s Tata Neu Infinity Credit Card, getting Lifetime Free (LTF) offer is becoming harder in 2025, compared to how it used to be in the past.

Rewards
| SPEND TYPE | REWARD RATE | Max Cap |
|---|---|---|
| Regular Spends | 1.5% | Nil |
| UPI Spends (via TataNeu App) | 1.5% | 500 NeuCoins (per month, combined) |
| UPI Spends (on other Apps) | 0.5% | 500 NeuCoins (per month, combined) |
| Spends on TataNeu App (Bill Pay & Tata brands) | 5% | as per category |
- NeuCoins Validity: 1 Year
- No rewards on fuel, wallet, rent, gaming and Gov spends.
- Capping is as per “calendar” month.
While the regular rewards on the card is not exciting, the 5% return with Tata Brands and even on Bill payments is quite a good thing.
Limitation on Rewards:
- Insurance, Groceries, utility, Telecom & Cable all capped at 2,000 NeuCoins / month for each category as above.
- Education payments made through third-party apps like CRED, MobiKwik, etc will not earn NeuCoins.
- Some merchants may not offer additional 5% rewards via NeuPass.
- 5% rewards applicable for transactions done only via Primary Card Holder Mobile Number Account (as per credit card application) on Tata Neu
- Currently, Bill Payment (Tata Pay), Tanishq, Cult.fit, Air India, Tata Play spends are not eligible for additional 5% NeuCoins via NeuPass Membership
The limits are ideally good enough for a regular user and 5% rewards on these categories are rare to see in the segment.
NeuPass

With NeuPass Membership, you get:
- Additional 5% NeuCoins on eligible Tata Neu spends
This stacks with the card’s 5% rewards (on select categories), giving you up to 10% effective return.
On top of that, you also get good discounts by booking on the app with brands like BigBasket & Taj Hotels.
Redemption
- 1 NeuCoin = 1 INR
NeuCoins are cash-equivalent and easy to redeem across Tata partner brands. While there are many options, redeeming for Tanishq gold coins is the popular choice.
If you’re into travel, you can also redeem NeuCoins at Taj Hotels which is perfect for settling any remaining balance after applying Taj vouchers.
Some same redemptions below:

Lounge Access
| ACCESS TYPE | ACCESS VIA | ACCESS LIMIT |
|---|---|---|
| Domestic | Visa / Rupay | 2/Qtr |
| International | Rupay/ Priority Pass | 1/Qtr (shared) |
For domestic access, lounge vouchers will be issued. Receive SMS/email to claim voucher within 120 days, then lounge usage valid within 180 days. Link to details.
For international access, on Visa, Priority Pass is issued on request.
While earlier the card offered direct swipe-based access, the voucher model with spend requirement adds friction.
That aside, if your life involves frequent travel, you may perhaps get the HDFC Regalia Gold credit card along with a Tata Neu card to make your life easier.
Other Benefits

- Forex markup: 2% on foreign currency spends
- Fuel surcharge waiver: 1% on petrol transactions between ₹400–₹5,000, max waiver ₹500 per billing cycle
The lower forex markup fee on the HDFC Bank Tata Neu Infinity Credit Card is a nice perk, especially in this segment.

Bottomline
- Cardexpert Rating: 4.5/5
The HDFC Tata Neu Infinity Credit Card is one of the most rewarding UPI credit cards in the country, particularly beneficial for those who are in the Tata ecosystem.
In this segment, you might as well be interested in the SBI Cashback Credit card (no UPI advantage though) that offers 5% direct cashback on most online spends.

I have received official communication via SMS from Tata Neu about this convenience fee. However they did not mention the %. I calculated with the charges I have paid and it is not standard. I see the % being anywhere between 1.5% to 1.8%+. This means that the effective value back for this card is not only 3-3.5% and not 5% anymore for utility payments.
Slowly most of the payment apps have implemented convenience fees e.g. Paytm, Phonepe, Amazon, Airtel Thanks etc.
At least on Amazon, it is flat Rs 5. I try to buy multiple things together and the fee remains at Rs 5. Here it is more than 1%, including taxes. And for each bill it is separate, so combining doesn’t help.
Tata neu started charging conv fee for utilities. Now I wonder why this guy is useful.
I wasn’t charged convenience fees yesterday. Paid >₹5k insurance premium on the Neu app on the HDFC Neu infinity card
Tata Neu is an app wich all hiccups. I paid my Vodaone bill and was charged convenience fee. A week or so later I booked LPG and again was charged convenience fee. Today I recharged DTH and no fee was charged. Did they remove it after customers complained? Was the convenience fee itself a bug? No one will ever no. Only thing is we all have to be vigilant from now on.
Today when I paid my Vodafone mobile bill on Tata Neu with this card, I was charged a convenience fee. This is the first time such a thing is happening in the last couple of years since I have been using this card. Has anyone else seen this?
Alright. I initially called HDFC Tata Neu customer care to check whose problem it is, theirs or the app’s. They said it was the app as the charges have been levied before payment itself on the app. Then I wrote an email to the Tata Neu customer care and immediately they said it was not their issue and that I have to contact the HDFC customer care. I replied saying that I already did that and it was the app that levied the charges and so it is their problem and not HDFC’s.
Once I said that they came back with a justification for the charges stating that it helps doing secure transactions. I replied asking from when this is and why I was not informed. They said it was presented to me at the checkout itself. When I asked from when this has been in place and they said Feb. That is not true because I wasn’t charged in Feb and not even in March till the last. Today too I was charged extra for booking cylinder.
So, for all Tata Neu card users, please be aware that there is going to be convenience fee for all your transactions on the app. This is the first time I am seeing something like this. Hasn’t happened on GPay, PayZapp etc in the past.
Do we get 5% for Tanishq Jewellery schema like the Rivah advantage ones.
Also do we get 5% for Tanishq swipes instore
How to get this LTF in 2025 Sid, pls do let us know the secrets
Hey Sid! Can you please clarify?
After the latest round of devaluation, the limit for utility payments(exc insurance) per month is 2000 pm but on Tata Neu app, I read that this limit is for Base coins(ie 1.5%).
Can one use Tata Neu points for buying Tanishq Gold Coins ?
What is the expiry timeline for Neu Coins – 1 year for all kinds of accruals ? or does it vary
Expiry varies. Some promotional ones expire in 3 months. Also 1 yr is not from date of actual credit, but from the date it is eligible to be earned (cooling off is 1 week to 1 month depending on spend category). Upcoming expiry is visible in the app.
You can buy gift vouchers on tataneu, including amazon, and get 5% worth coins.
How many credit cards do you have from HDFC Bank.
3 Primary cards at the moment.
Siddhanath, I have 4 HDFC cards at the moment. Diners Black (not metal), Tata Neu Infinity, Swiggy and Marriot. All are lifetime free except Marriot one.
The best part of HDFC TNI is 1.5% CB effectively on school fees and gold. Currently no basic CC provides these.
The tata neu app is very slow and cluttered , not really good for quick UPI payments. For heavy upi spenders kiwi CC is best
Is Kiwi points redemption system smooth?
Yes gets redeemed to cash instantly. Min 500 kiwis(i.e., 125rs) needed but not enforced it yet.
I have been using this card from the beginning and quite frankly have switched to this from my infinia spends as well. The reasons are simple. First is it has decent rewards on UPI and then all the rewards are transparent.
I can just redeem it for my everyday purchases-no hassles on the tata neu app or in many offline stores. I have done it on westside and croma and it seamless with 1 otp.
I have also been using a feature they don’t speak about on buying gift cards on tata neu app for all brands. This gives me almost 7-8% discount on my uber, zepto, starbucks gift card. Pretty happy with this card so far!
After the latest round of devaluation, the limit for utility payments(exc insurance) per month is 2000 pm but on Tata Neu app, I read that this limit is for Base coins(ie 1.5%). Can you please clarify!
There is a possibility of getting 10% back at times, at least in the past. If you shop from Croma, Tata Cliq or any other option from the Tata Neu app, you get an extra 5% as Neu Coins but that is restricted to 2000 Neu Coins per transaction, which means for Rs 40000 you get the max of 4000 Neu Coins and not just Rs 2000.
The Neu Coins can also be redeemed at the physical shops like Croma. Even Titan Eye+ allows for it.
The UPI on RuPay cards is a scam though. It does work here and there but most retailers have blocked card payments on UPI and so I would say I have used it less than 20 times in the 2+ years I’ve been holding this card. But that is not fault of the card. It is because there are charges deducted for such transactions and so merchants are blocking it. Even some merchants who allow card payments have blocked card payment via UPI.
on top of all that the UPI app is slow and have to bear those angry looks of the merchants everytime I stall the queue.
Can I swipe Rupay card directly in international lounge without priority pass? Is 1 lounge/qtr irrespective of my spend in previous qtr?
Did any one tried using the Rupay card in international lounge?
Yes i have tried at abu dhabi international airport and it worked seamlessly.
