Amex festive offer 2025 unveiling

American Express India has notified select cardholders about a targeted spend-linked festive offer for Diwali 2025, following the teaser email that was sent out last week.

Offer details are now live and here’s everything you need to know about this Amex Diwali festive offer for 2025.

Offer Details

This year, its an “either, or” offer, with 2 spend targets to chose from. Here are all the details:

OfferSpend XXXX and get vouchers worth YYYY
Spend ExclusionsNil
Offer Period15 September 2025 – 25 October 2025
FulfilmentOn or before 15 Dec 2025

It’s good to see that there are no long list of exclusions, which is becoming a new trend lately. So it’s good to go for any spend.

And if you’re wondering what vouchers you would get as a part of the offer, find the list below. It’s good to see Amazon, Flipkart and Zomato among others.

While this is something I know for some cards, there are also other set of offers for other cards, but it’s largely similar in terms of reward rate.

American Express has sent out the offer to almost all eligible cardholders at this point in time.

My Offer

I received a small Diwali offer for 2024 since my Amex spends had reduced. This 2025, spends have improved a bit and here’s the offer I’ve received:

my targeted amex spend based offer

It’s a decent offer with 3% reward rate on my Amex Reserve Card I would say but I wonder why the email creative has a foreigner’s face on it. 😀

Final Thoughts

Earlier, Amex festive offers were among the best, giving up to 10% back on spends. But over time, the value has reduced. In recent years, returns fell to about 4%, and now they are as low as 3%.

While Amex offers are declining, HSBC has become the new leader for Diwali festive offer. In 2024, HSBC had a very attractive offer. Let’s see if they repeat something similar this year.

Have you received the targeted spend-linked offer for your card? Feel free to share in the comments below.

    Hi Sid,
Exactly, I was about to say that. Post the ban, maybe they have devised a new plan of not giving any rebate. But Amex should understand and bring offers & work on acceptability issues in India. Without that, its a waste. Diners has progressed a lot as they were also facing such issues, but now it has 99% acceptability rate but amex is still the same.

It’s tough time for Amex post Covid for various reasons. They can’t afford to be lucrative as before, anymore. As always Amex/Diners remains as secondary card due to acceptance issues.

    Hi Rishab,
My Amex Gold card renewal comes in Feb.every year. This year i got the 50% waiver on annual fee & for Platinum travel was given an option of using my RP’s towards annual fee payment.

The new rule started around March/April I guess, just after the Self-ban!

Amex refused the annual fee waiver on my Gold card today. They say from 2025, per new policy, they aren’t offering fee waivers or Promise To Spend(PTS) offers anymore. Has anyone received a fee waiver from Amex recently?

Neither I nor anyone I know has received a retention offer on Amex Cards recently. There still might be some exceptions on cards with high spends but rare.

Got offer for either Rs 1000 on 25000 spends or 1500 on Rs 50000 spends. Will try if one can manage the 25000 target. Amex with the devaluation of Reward Multiplier and restrictions from Amazon, have lost further value as it is effectively an online only card.

First time they have refused to waive the annual charges or conditional spend offer for waiver(Platinum Travel Card). I have cancelled the card after 9 years.

I didn’t receive any offer despite having gold, plat travel and rewards cards. Earlier this year I had received Get 10k Taj voucher on 3L spends which I did and received the voucher too. But now no offer. May be because I have become a heavy and regular user anyway now.

Right, no usage & heavy usage cards are always excluded form the promo.

I will give Amex offer a pass as I don’t have that high spend to do especially on Amex. My Amex Plat.travel card just short of 50k to complete 4L Milestone, after that it doesn’t matter much.
Reward rate of this offer is anyways around 3.33% its better to put an expense on DCB instead of Plat.travel card.

I only use my Plat Travel for the 4 lakhs milestone every year!

The offer I received is to either spend Rs. 25,000 for Rs. 1,000 voucher or spend Rs. 50,000 for Rs. 1500 voucher. I’m going to pass up on this offer!

Looks like they have different offers for different people based on some algorithm… For me its 3k for 1L, and 6k for 2L…Plat travel card…I had already spent 4L for this year, so they are offering in that card 😀 Would have loved a higher reward/spend criteria…. Planning to use it for tax payment & school fees.

I recd an email for participation in a spend based reward program where I ill get 20k GV (Amazon / Taj / MMT) If I choose to enroll and spend 4 Lakhs by 12th October. Looks like it was linked to my annual renewal fees.

Last month, got a call from AMEX saying I’ll be getting 25K GV as my spending was above INR 75L. Didn’t get that either.

Also, Didn’t get any other festive promo email.

Hi Siddharth, First of all big thanks to you, you have been my Guru for all the credit card knowledge over the last 7 years.

Any advise if i should pursue pno, consumer court or rbi, as I didn’t receive 10k birthday Taj voucher on amex platinum charge card. This is unexpected of amex to differentiate between customers based on their date of birth.

Support over call usually helps for this issue. If not, ask them to register a complaint, usually resolves in 2 weeks. If still doesn’t help, you can go to RBI.

Hi Siddharth, I raised this issue with Amex customer care. They just refused saying thy can’t do anything about it. Strange if someone has birthday before they change their policy got the voucher, but someone else (me) who had bday falling after their change inpolicy didn’t get the Taj voucher, despite having paid same 72k fee.

If you think you’ve a valid point, go for RBI. One of my friend’s card was closed by Amex for not-so-valid reason and an RBI case got his cards back up in no time.

I will surrender my Amex Platinum on coming renewal after holding it for 8 years.

The milestone and this chase game has created a lot of mind chatter and eats away good mindspace.

Time to hold a simple card with flat returns. Time for optimizing life rather than reward points.

I will be giving up my amex gold / rewards cards this month. One thing is the hassle to get 12k / Yr of amazon vouchers is too much. But the bigger point is I want to stop using American products and services. Amex, Amazon are two on top priority

These kind of cosmetic offers cant help Amex India, however hard they try.
They really need to change their DNA.
