Transfer Club ITC Points to Marriott Bonvoy

If you have Club ITC Green Points sitting idle in your account, you can convert them into Marriott Bonvoy points and use them at over 9,500 hotels worldwide.

It sounds great, and it is, but the rules have been getting tighter every year. Here is a complete guide covering how the transfer works, the latest limits, and what is changing right now.

Club ITC Overview

Club ITC is the loyalty programme of ITC Hotels, which runs more than 140 hotels across 90 destinations in India, including brands like ITC Hotels, Welcomhotel, Mementos, Storii, Fortune Hotels, and WelcomHeritage.

ITC is now expanding beyond India with ITC Ratnadipa being the popular one in Colombo, SriLanka.

  • 1 ITC Green Points = 1 INR

The currency of Club ITC loyalty program is Green Points and it carries a static value which can redeemed seemlesly for stays/dining.

ITC to Marriott Transfer Ratio

  • Club ITC to Marriott Bonvoy = 2:3

That’s a nice 50% bonus on transferring to Marriott.

For example, 10,000 Green Points would give 15,000 Bonvoy points. This ratio has not changed and is not changing with the latest May 2026 update either.

The ratio is fair enough because Marriott often gives much lower value than 1 INR (green point value) on a typical redemption.

Why Marriott Transfer Exists?

ITC Hotels has a long-standing franchise agreement with Marriott International, under which its flagship luxury properties, the ITC Grand Collection, are listed as part of Marriott’s The Luxury Collection brand.

As part of this tie-up, Marriott Bonvoy members can book ITC hotels with Marriott Points. However, Club ITC members can’t book Marriott hotels with ITC points directly.

So ITC came up with an ability to transfer points to Marriott as a reciprocal benefit.

The Axis Bank Connection

Transferring Club ITC Green Points to Marriott Bonvoy has been an easy way to get a good value for Axis Bank EDGE Reward Points, as ITC falls under Group B with generous limit on super premium cards.

With the direct Axis-to-Marriott route now gone, the Club ITC bridge had become even more important for Marriott Bonvoy aspirants holding Axis EDGE points and it is precisely at this moment that Club ITC has opted to tighten the bridge further.

Transfer Limits

The rules have already been tightened several times. When the transfer partnership was first introduced, there was no quarterly cap.

Here’s a look at the timeline of changes happened so far:

Transfer PeriodTransfer Limit
/ Quarter
Max
Green Points
/ Year
Max
Bonvoy Points
/ Year
Launch → June 2023No cap60,00090,000
July 2023 – Mid 202415,00060,00090,000
Mid 2024 – Apr, 202610,00040,00060,000
From 1 May, 20265,00020,00030,000

The annual cap has gone from 60K green points to mere 20K green points now which is quite low, as even 1 night Marriott redemption these days costs over 30K Marriott Bonvoy points, especially in metro cities.

But why is ITC tightening the rules?

Well, it just costs them more to transfer to Marriott compared to redemptions within ITC ecosystem.

And on top of it, there are more people transferring now than ever before, thanks to Axis Bank for cutting the Marriott link. So naturally, ITC finds ways to reduce their expenses, leading to lower limits.

My prediction beyond this point is that ITC might change the conversion ratio to simply 1:1 because even ITC themselves now asking for more points when you try to redeem for stays directly on ITC.

How to Transfer?

Here is how to initiate a transfer:

  1. Make sure your Club ITC account email and mobile number are verified.
  2. Log in to your Club ITC account, go to My Rewards, and select “CONVERSION TO MARRIOTT BONVOY POINTS” option.
  3. Initiate the transfer. A minimum of 2,000 Green Points is required per transfer request.

The transfer takes anywhere between 1-3 weeks to reflect on Marriott Bonvoy account.

Should You Transfer?

Transfer now if you have been planning to.

You still have Q2 2026 transfer window under the current rules. The current cap of 10,000 Green Points per quarter is in effect right up to 30 April, 2026.

However, if you’re new to Marriott, this is not something I would recommend you to do because ITC points carry a static value and the redemption system is simple compared to the dynamic redemption system that Marriott follows.

Bottom Line

The Club ITC to Marriott Bonvoy transfer at a 2:3 ratio is a good deal if you’re targeting a valuable Marriott redemption. However, it’s disappointing to see the cap shrinking with each passing year.

If you have Green Points and have been on the fence, act before May, 2026 to use the higher limit one last time.

For MR points, AXIS route is almost dead now, best time to switch AMEX/HSBC cards for 1:1 or HDFC cards for 2:1 ratio.
