Review: Renaissance by Marriott Lucknow

Renaissance by Marriott Lucknow

Set in a sleek tower build, Renaissance Hotel Lucknow is Marriott’s solo 5 star property in the City of Nawabs established in 2015 and is centrally located adjacent to Taj Mahal Hotel in Gomtinagar area near the famous Gomti river.

Booking

As you know Marriott went dynamic few years ago, rates vary quite a bit depending upon occupancy ratio.

Base category room rate usually starts at ~8K INR + taxes for most of the days. Revenue rates usually include Complimentary Breakfast for 2 Adults.

I booked the base category room via Marriott Bonvoy app to celebrate Spouse Birthday by redeeming 13500 Marriott Bonvoy points for 2A+2C giving a sweet value of ~₹0.75 per point. Once the chat option opened in Marriott Bonvoy app 2 days prior to the stay, informed them of the special ocassion via in-app chat option.

Redemption stay doesn’t include complimentary breakfast by default here or even in many other Marriott properties, unless you are Marriott Bonvoy Platinum Elite or above.

Tip: Many a times polite request for complimentary breakfast during check-in works, as per my experience.

If booking Renaissance Lucknow on Revenue, always choose their Cocktail Hours package, for the evening taste delight (Thank me later).

Check-in

Checked in around 5:30 PM and received a warm welcome upon arrival. A juice-based welcome drink was served, possibly due to a special occasion. No documents were needed, as our details were already on file from a previous stay, making the entire check-in process quick and seamless, taking just 2–3 minutes.

We were also pleasantly surprised to hear at the reception that Complimentary Breakfast was added with our package & room was upgraded 1 level to 10th floor City view (without even asking for).

Renaissance Hotel features 16 floors and a total of 112 rooms. The top floor houses a well-positioned infinity pool with a separate section for kids, offering stunning views of the Gomti River and the cityscape.

We opted for a twin-bed room, which was spacious enough to comfortably accommodate 2 adults and 2 children.

The Food

Breakfast spread (especially pastries variety for your sweet tooth) at L14 is huge with a big enough area to accomodate 100+ people simultaneously, yet not feeling overcrowded. As usual Live counters specialities include south indian dishes n more.

Renaissance by Marriott Lucknow zaffran

Zaffran restaurant serves Cocktail hours from 5-7 pm in evening. Dinner is served in a comfy & pleasant ambience giving cool vibes with Awadhi paintings placed amicably.

Hospitality

cake celebrations

Thoughtful gestures like a small room decoration, an in-room birthday cake, and a fruit platter go a long way in earning customer loyalty. Front Office Manager Mr. Vedant Gore personally came to greet my spouse at Zaffran in the evening, making the occasion even more special.

The next morning at breakfast in L14, my spouse was delighted to be surprised with a chocolate pastry by team members Madhu and Shivani—a sweet and memorable touch.

Sightseeing

  • Hazratganj Market: 4 Km
  • Charbagh Railway Station: 8 Km
  • Imambara/Bhul Bhulaiya: 8 Km
  • Lucknow CCS Airport: 18 Km
  • Ayodhya: 133 Km

Bottomline

  • Cardexpert Rating: 4.4/5

This property easily ranks among the top two five-star hotels in Lucknow. The ability to redeem Marriott Bonvoy points with zero out-of-pocket expense is a major bonus. Even the revenue rates are quite reasonable compared to the competition. My experience at Renaissance Lucknow was exceptional, and I look forward to returning soon.

I haven’t had any luck so far. What exact line do you usually use?

Also, how has been your experience using Mobile Key?

I stayed in this hotel for a couple of months before, and my stay was quite comfortable. I got a complimentary breakfast as a Marriott Gold member even without requesting it, and that was a sweet gesture because Gold members are not entitled to a complimentary breakfast. The hotel is well-maintained, and the rooftop bar is excellent.

In my last trip to Lucknow I stayed in this property and the adjacent Taj Hotel as well. Hotel feels fresh and service standards are high. However Taj is ahead in overall experience given the hotel itself feels like a very well maintained heritage site.
Renaissance has a more of business hotel kind of feeling, which doesn’t mean it is bad. To my surprise they upgraded me to a Presidential Suite (Which is exactly similar to the 1 bedroom suite but with a better view and a jacuzzi). Food is great, views are probably the best in Lucknow (even made a video of it, it was so nice).
